10-6-2008 Blarg: So it's been a long while since we've last seen Knife, and we now probably know more about him than we need to.
The cats have been bad lately. We used to let them sleep in our bedroom at night, but then Scout started playing with the blinds and knocking things off the night stand in an effort to wake us up to feed her as shown here. To combat this we locked them both out of the bedroom at night, which is quite unfortunate because Al used to sleep quietly at our feet. Really Scout ruined it for all parties involved. Everything was peaceful for nearly a year, but now Scout has begun pawing and banging at the door very early every morning before our alarm to remind us that cat breakfast is just a few short hours away. How did we solve this new problem?
We still close the bedroom door, but now we leave the vacuum in the hallway. The vacuum is turned on but unplugged with the power cord threaded beneath the bedroom door. If Scout starts to create noise, all we have to do is plug the vacuum in from inside the bedroom, and it violently erupts scaring away the cat. That's right. We can out smart a cat. We'll see what Scout does in response. I've noticed she's been hanging out in the corner with some graph paper and a ruler so I know she's up to something.
